Newbie: Standard settings for connecting to openldap - ubuntu

Postby ikt@framnes.vgs.no » Tue Nov 15, 2011 2:07 pm

Hi,
I want to start using LDAP Browser 4.5 against an ubuntu server (samba domain controller) with openldap installed.

Which LDAP Browser connection settings do I use to correctly log in to an openldap server with the LDAP? I have put the IP address and port number, but as of Credentials / Mechanism settings I don't know.

Thanks for tips on correct settings which are supposed to work.
I assume that I can purchase LDAP Administrator later to import users from CSV files and create some needed new LDAP fields...

best regards Tor

Hello Tor,

LDAP Administrator supports most of the high-usage authentication mechanisms, including Simple, DIGEST-MD5, GSS-NEGO and External. It is also possible to use the secure connection (SSL).

On how to configure your OpenLDAP server, refer to the server documentation here.
