support for non-ASCII chars in LDIF file?

Postby vsignore » Thu May 18, 2006 6:23 pm

I've created an LDIF file that contains Chinese chars. I've saved the file in UTF8 and made sure there was no "junk" in the header (from Notepad). When I attempt to import this file, the Softerra Client shows "Document Type: unknown". Any idea why? Does this product not support LDIF files with non-ASCII chars? My other LDIF files work fine. Thanks.

LDIF files cannot contain any non-ASCII chars (see RFC 2849 for details). If some non-ASCII symbols have to be used, they should be encoded in UTF8. In the example you've provided the symbols don't have the required encoding.
