Hello Friends,
I have just started exploring LDAP... my ques. are
1) What is advantage of assigning OID to all LDAP attributes and Classes? Can we retrive these attributes using "snmpget" command?? from remote compter?
2) Where the actual matching rules are mentioned ? How can i add a new matching rule..( if i have alread have a private OID for our organization?)

It's not a question of advantages or disadvantages. LDAP standard requires that every schema entity like attribute type, object class or matching rule has its own unique id.

It looks like that you confused something here. SNMP has nothing to do with LDAP (except probably the fact that both use OIDs)

Take a look at RFC4517.

How can i add a new matching rule

Usually, to define a new matching rule, apart other things like obtaining OID, you need to write a plug-in for your server.
