Well ...we are using sunone ddirectroy service. I was given a task as to write a utility which performs a cleanup on LDAP, i.e, removing all the extra data and leaving out just the basic starting info inside it. Any idea how i should start off.....

The actual implementation of this task may depend on the kind of directory server you use. Usually it's done by replacing current backend files either with new created from scratch or restored from backup. Turn to your server documentation for more details on backup/restore.
