LDAP Administrator offers two search tools to use based on the type of information you're looking for. They are: Quick Search and Directory Search. Quick Search helps you find information by typing a keyword/text string and selecting groups of attributes to search in, while with Directory Search you can use such search criteria as search DN, filter and a set of attributes you are interested in.
The key difference between the tools is in criteria specified. For Quick Search, it's a keyword or a phrase, for Directory Search - it's an LDAP filter. Both search modes allow spotting matching entries in the directory tree by just clicking the search result items.
