Deleting Entry

Despite the fact that LDAP does not support deletion of entire subtrees, with LDAP Administrator you can remove both leaf and non-leaf LDAP entries in course of just a single operation.

If an LDAP server supports the Tree Delete Control (1.2.840.113556.1.4.805), LDAP Administrator will use it to remove non-leaf entries in order to increase the application's performance via performing all recursive operations on the server side.

If an LDAP server does not support the Tree Delete Control, all non-leaf entry subordinates will be removed before the entry itself. This way a directory subtree gets removed recursively, leaf by leaf.

To delete an LDAP entry:

  1. Select an entry you'd like to delete.

  2. Click Delete on the Standard toolbar or press Del.
